Q. How long have you two been doing Keto and what made you start?
Boozy Ketones: We have been doing Keto since January 2017. We started, of course, to lose weight after partying hard from vacation, but realized the feeling was so much more than the weight. That is definitely what made us make this a lifestyle and to a yo-yo diet.
Q. Describe your sister in one word
Q. Since both of you manage the same account, does that ever get confusing?
Boozy Ketones: Yes! omg yes. There are some days where we are like, did you comment that or did I? Or we will comment the EXACT same thing. It’s so funny and so much fun to build relationships with so many amazing people. It is great that we both manage this account because we can both answer questions and not get backed up. Plus the mystery of who our followers are talking to is always fun (they will never know)!
Q. For those of us that didn’t get to go to Ketocon, what was it like?
Boozy Ketones: Ketocon was great. A lot of connections were made and we met a lot of our internet friends! However, Rainey street in Austin was so much better! But we are boozies.
Q. What is the craziest thing you saw while you were there?
Boozy Ketones: Some girl ripped a shirt off a guy in the club– like a legit button-up shirt (buttons went flying and the overweight gentleman’s face dropped). Everyone cheered and another girl was throwing water, spinning in circles. We weren’t mad, the water felt nice. She was just cooling Everyone down 💁🏻♀️ They were little fun havers! Austin is definitely a good time.
Q. I didn’t know what a pickleback was before you two. How did you find out about it and can you use any pickle juice?
Boozy Ketones: It’s a very known thing, but if you haven’t tried it you must! It cuts the whiskey and is addicting. You can use pickle juice, but we just discovered brine brothers pickle juice that is made especially for picklebacks with all-natural ingredients and not chemicals.
Q. In my opinion you two are the best at what you do. How do you come up with new recipes?
Boozy Ketones: Thank you! that’s so nice. we drink test A LOT. when we like an ingredient or liquor, we think of all the ways to use it in a cocktail. Even ingredients that don’t belong in a cocktail — like vinegar hot sauce — we experiment (we found that the vinegar hot sauce is amazing in a Bloody Mary and margaritas, BTW). We have learned a lot in the past year — experimenting with bitters, herbs, etc. Making sure we have plenty of Keto friendly snacks on hand while we test (Keto tolerance). We also get ideas from fancy drink menus and try to “Ketofy” them. Most can totally be done and taste better in our opinion!
Q. Have their been any celebrities that have tried your recipes?
Boozy Ketones: HA! none that we know of yet- send them our way, won’t you?
Q. What’s one thing you love about each other and one thing that drives you nuts?
Boozy Ketones: We are basically the same person, it is so weird. sometimes we won’t communicate on our post or caption, and we will post the EXACT same thing at the same time. It gets super creepy sometimes — GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! We can’t think of anything that drives me nuts about each other. We have found while managing this page, that we both have different strengths. Erika is more on the creative side and creates beautiful Pictures, while Lisa gravitates more toward the communications and contractual work.
Q. If you could tell a younger version of yourself one thing, what would it be?
Boozy Ketones: Wear the shorts. Be confident. I think we are both more confident now than we were in our 20’s. AND HAVE THAT ONE LAST DRINK!!!
Q. What do you do when you’re not slinging carb friendly drinks?
Boozy Ketones: We both have jobs outside of BK also that keep us busy. Erika is a labor and delivery nurse and I am a Contract Restaurant Marketing Director.
Q. what do you do for fun?
Boozy Ketones: We both love to travel and be active with our families. Hiking, biking, swimming, anything out in the sun!
Q. What is the one drink recipe, you’re the proudest of?
Boozy Ketones: probably one we created for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It is a Passion Tea Sparkler made with infused vodka, grapefruit juice, and some sugar-free sweetener — it’s amazing and the cause was incredible!
Q. Do you have any tips for people going out?
Boozy Ketones: Plan ahead. Whether that means looking up the menu ahead of time or packing some goodies in your purse, plan ahead! And if you slip up, WHATEV! Don’t beat yourself up too bad — it was a good night, right?!
Q. Most people get the munchies when they start to drink, what is your advice to help people keep people from going to the drunk carb side?
Boozy Ketones: I pack jerky, nuts, and nut butter in my purse at all times. Also, order some Keto appies with your drinks. You think you don’t need it at first, but then all of a sudden you’re starving and you will eat anything within a 5 for radius. Don’t do that. Order a veggie tray, bone-in wings, or artichoke dip with some veggies. Your belly will thank you in the morning. ALSO- cocktail, water.. cocktail, water.. cocktail, water.
Q. Your Instagram posts are visually impressive, who designs them?
Boozy Ketones: We both do. And thank you!
Q. What percentage of your carb count is booze?
Boozy Ketones: We like stiff drinks. Now, after doing this page we would much rather have one stiff, beautiful drink than 4 boring drinks. All of our cocktails are 5 carbs and under. That way if you eat really strict for the day, chances are you won’t go over your carbs
Q. Are there any drinks that you haven’t been able to make a Keto version of yet?
Boozy Ketones: Aperol Spritz and a Mai Thai. Those are tough ones but don’t worry, We’re working on it!
Q. What is your all-time favorite drink?
Boozy Ketones: This is a terrible question, how dare you make us choose. 🙂 That depends… On a “girls night out” where we want to get wild fast, it’s definitely a dirty gin martini for us. For a normal weekday, it really depends on the season! It can range from boozy infused tea lemonades, Moscow mules, hot hotties, spicy margaritas, or fruity vodka tonics ( all Ketofied, of course).
Q. Is there a drink recipe book in the works?
Boozy Ketones: MAYYYYBE….. 🙂
